Ailing agricultural nematology in India and its potential consequences

Agricultural nematology mainly deals with microscopic worms called plant parasitic nematodes, also known as hidden enemies, that live in soil and cause damage to our carefully nurtured crops. Though crop loss estimation is an ongoing activity, some estimates conservatively indicate nematode-caused losses to be in the vicinity of US$ 2.5 billion per annum in India.
